is an independent bread bakery specialised in rolls.
Our motto is to make products that suit the professional entrepreneur and are eaten as a treat by every consumer.

Production process

We bake our products on trays in traditional bakery ovens. We give our products care and craftsmanship and, during the entire production process, give them time to achieve the best result. This can be clearly seen with our bread rolls that are nicely browned on the bottom and have a beautiful golden brown cap at the top. This makes for a delicious sandwich that, fresh from the freezer, is almost indistinguishable from fresh bread!

History

Bakkerij Kamstra was founded in 1953 by Pieter Kamstra Sr. in Luttelgeest, following the success of his other bakery in Eestrum (FR). In 1958 the bakery was taken over by the two sons Harmen and Pieter Jr. Eventually the bakery in Luttelgeest became too small and it moved to Wolvega in 1985. Here in Wolvega, in 1996 the 3rd generation of Kamstras - Peter Kamstra, son of Pieter Jr. - made a full takeover. Soon after starting in 1999, Peter had to deal with a huge setback. Everything was lost in a fire. But with full confidence in the future, he opened the doors of the current bakery in 2000. In 2008, the bakery was expanded with a new freezer, allowing us to store 2500 pallets.

Our bakery meets all modern requirements for making artisan bread in large batches. Thanks to our BRC and GMP certificates, we also meet all strict production requirements and we attach great importance to cleanliness and control.
